A traffic stop has led to the arrest of a Monroe County resident on drug charges.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said around 2 p.m. on March 4 they were dispatched to Fairview Street in Mount Pocono for a reported physical domestic incident. Officers received a report from the communications center that one of the participants in the domestic had left the scene driving a black Chevrolet Equinox.Officers spotted a Equinox in the area of the domestic report and made a traffic stop.The driver was identified as Randy Barnes, 38, of East Stroudsburg. He was not involved in the domestic, however, officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A narcotics K-9 unit was brought to the scene and a large bag concealed in the trunk was found. The bag contained large bulk vacuum sealed bags of high-grade marijuana.Barnes was placed under arrest and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of instruments of crime and possession of marijuana.
