Three abandoned drifts, driven into the Mount Pisgah slope just off Route 209 near Jim Thorpe by Rocky Mountain Energy Company of Denver, Colo., in a search for uranium deposits a number of years ago, are being permanently sealed. James Shober of Hauto, director of Anthracite Regional Mine Safety with the Department of Environmental Resources (DER) in Pennsylvania, ordered that they be sealed. The contract to seal the drifts was awarded to Otto Herman of Jim Thorpe.
