Local business granted transference liquor license
A public hearing was held at the Oct. 19 Chestnuthill Township Supervisors' meeting for a transfer of a liquor license request from Mike Santorelli for his Mike's Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant, LCC business he opened in April on Rt. 115, Mt. Effort at the Mountain Crest Plaza.
He answered several questions posed to him by his attorney Wendy A. Nicolosi and the township lawyer, Joseph McDonald. He stated that the business can seat between 70-80 people and it is not near a church, school, library, public park or day care center.Supervisor Dave Fleetwood asked him if this license has anything to do with the other establishment he was associated with before this one and he answered "No."Supervisor Chris Eckert asked him if he had had any violations at the previous business and he replied, "No."Resident Albert Bourke stated that he was of the impression there were a certain amount of liquor licenses allowed in the county and did he apply for a new one.Nicolosi said that Santorelli would be getting an existing license from an owner in Paradise Township that is currently being held in escrow.After satisfying all questions, Eckert made a motion for Resolution 2010-10 to grant Mike's Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant a transference liquor license. It was seconded by Fleetwood and all three supervisors, including Chairman Chuck Gould voted "yes."Bernie Kozen, Executive Director of West End Park and Open Space Commission reported: Trick or Treat night will be on Sunday, Oct. 31 from 5-8 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 13, Regional Park cleanup, at the intersection of Merwinehill Top Road and Hillcrest Dr. at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 at Chestnuthill Park building, reptile show at 12 p.m.; CPR/first aid class Sunday, Nov. 7 has been canceled.Kozen also reported that the West End Park and Open Space Commission was awarded $65,000 grant from DCNR for Phase I development at the Regional Park. Project cost is approximately $120,000. The balance of monies has been raised through fund raisers and an award from ESSA foundation of $20,000.00.The board approved 3-0:*Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. for a public hearing on the 9-1-1 sign addressing ordinance which will set the requirements for driveway signage and township road signage. There will be a newsletter sent to all Chestnuthill residents in the near future to get the word out about what is occurring with the 9-1-1 process. Resident Al Bourke said he didn't think this was needed. He said people already know where their houses are and didn't think the township should be spending money on the 9-1-1 project.Supervisor Eckert tried to explain, as a volunteer fireman, how important the new addressing system will help emergency responders find a home quicker.*to table a request to release balance of the Mountain Crest Plaza bond to Nov. 16 until Engineer Christopher McDermott of Reilly Engineering can view property*the 2011 West End Park & Open Space Commission's proposed budget*to award the bid for EIT tax collector (Monroe County Tax Collection Committee) to Berkheimer Tax Administrator as of Jan. 1, 2011. Berkheimer is currently serving in that capacity at this time.*canceled the 11/2/2010 supervisors meeting because of Election Day. The supervisors will meet on Nov. 1 for a bill paying meeting only.*to pay the bills with the exception of those to Burnley Workshop after resident Leon Clarke asked about a discrepancy which Dave Albright, township manager, said he would break it down to be more itemized. Further discussion offered a suggestion of placing an asterisk in front of items that reflect monies to be refunded to the township in the report. Bourke stated he had a problem of the wording of "Total Disbursements" as stated on the General Fund's check detail.*the William Green III minor subdivision located a the intersection of Rt. 115 and Effort Neola Rd. The 52-acre tract will now have 50 acres in agriculture easement leaving two acres around an existing home.*the Larry and Kathleen minor subdivision located at the intersection of McIlhaney and Mills Roads. They are subdividing a house and parcel off their larger parcel. It is conditioned upon current owner's statement with current dates and original signatures, any outstanding fee's being paid.*the Larry and Kathleen planning module in Resolution 2010-11.Resident Stuart Thody wanted to acknowledge all the efforts supervisor Dave Fleetwood has made with the considerable progress made in formation of the Chestnuthill Township Historical Society.Fleetwood announced that officers have been elected. They are: Norman Burger, president, Nancy Gehr, vice president, Kathy Getz, secretary, Lee E. Hoffman, treasurer. They are working on finalizing their by-laws and are applying for a 501c3, nonprofit status."If anyone is interested in becoming a member, it will cost $10 a person, $15 a family, $100 for lifetime and $5 for senior citizens. The next meeting will be held on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. here at the Chestnuthill municipal building. We will be having a dinner on Tuesday, Dec. 7. There will be no meeting in January. We'll meet again on the third Wednesday in February at 7 p.m. at the Chestnuthill Park building from then on. Anyone is invited to join," said Fleetwood.Alice Albert Green said she had several old maps of the township and offered them to the historical society. Fleetwood said they'd love to have them.
