Joseph Potter, retired Jim Thorpe railroader who boasts of having been present when Presidents William Jennings Bryant, Calvin Cooledge, and Harry Truman made "whistle stop" railroad visits in Jim Thorpe, was at the site of the former Lehigh Valley Railroad Station as Governor Milton Shapp's "Victory Special II" made a brief stop while traveling through Eastern Pennsylvania. After addressing the more than 400 present on the Acme parking lot, Shapp introduced a "hometown boy," Paul Vathis, Jim Thorpe native, who is with the Associated Press.
