He will come to the Chestnuthill Township Park in Brodheadsville from 6-8 p.m. Friday, and at 4 p.m. Saturday to the Ross Township Park, on Anchorage Road in Saylorsburg.At 4 p.m., Ross Township will hold its tree lighting.There will be music, hot cocoa and cookies. Families are invited to bring a camera for pictures with Santa.WEPOSC is collecting nonperishable food items for PVEN and new unwrapped Toys for Tots.Pantry distributionThe West End Food Pantry in Kunkletown will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.Classes resumeESL classes will resume at the Western Pocono Community Library on Saturday. The classes are free and no registration is required. The class will be from 10 a.m. until noon.AARP classAn eight-hour driver safety class, taught by an AARP trained volunteer, will be given in two sessions this Saturday and next Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. at the Chestnuthill Park in Brodheadsville.There is no test, nor is membership in AARP required. Contact Helen at 610-381-3016 for costs.The evening is a family event with a buffet dinner, wine tasting, live music and a raffle.Maureen Madden, newly elected state representative for District 115, will be honored.Tree lightingPolk Township's Christmas tree lighting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Veterans Memorial and Adam's Faith Garden.Community families are invited to come and enjoy the tree lighting and the arrival of a special guest by firetruck and stay for refreshments, games and crafts at the Salem-St. Paul's Church after the lighting.Christmas partyThe GFWC Western Pocono Women's Club will hold its annual Christmas party and December club meeting on Monday at the Boulder View Tavern in Lake Harmony. The party signals the end of monthly club meetings until March 20, 2017.While the monthly meetings may not be held, WPWC is a very active women's service club. Members continue to clip coupons for the military, make quilts for Quilts for Kids, go monthly to Getz Personal Care Home and volunteer to help out in a multitude of various ways in the community.The club is open to all women 18 years and older.
