DVDs being collected for troops overseas

Have any DVDs lying around that are just in the way and you would like to give to a better home?

Lansford AMVETS Post 83 Commander Michael Frey wants you to know that there are fighting men and women overseas who would love to have them. To assist in delivering those DVDs to our troops, the AMVETS organization has organized Task Force DVD."We are collecting new or used DVDs to be shipped overseas for our soldiers," Frey said. "This is a nationwide drive to collect the discs and send them to our fighting men and women."Frey said when he was stationed in Saudi Arabia several years ago, the Armed Forces Network shipped VHS tapes over to the soldiers to watch and circulate among the posts."We used to get five or six of them at one time and once we finished with them we swapped them for others. There are no places to rent them over there."Anyone wishing to donate DVDs to the cause can drop them off during the AMVETS regular hours, Monday through Friday from noon to closing and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to closing."At this point, there is no end date so we will be collecting and shipping them for the foreseeable future," Frey said.AMVETS Post 83 is located at 201 West Ridge St. in Lansford.
