March 18, 1954 St. Joseph's of East Mauch Chunk uses the one-two punch of Joe Duffy and Bill Gmitter to cruise to a 50-25 win over St. Cunegunda's of McAdoo in the District Two CYO championship game. Duffy pours in a game-high 24 points as the winners, co-coached by Mickey Hodor and Walt Moser, outscore their opponent in every quarter. Gmitter contributes 21 points for the Panther Valley Parochial League champs.
