A Palmerton artist with a penchant for churning out creative masterpieces is the featured artist this month at the Tamaqua Community Arts Center.

Visitors were able to meet with Paula Zelienka as part of an Artist Meet & Greet held recently at the center, located at 125 Pine St.Zelienka, who enjoys working in the media of watercolors and acrylics, said she was excited to have her work on display.“The evening went very well,” Zelienka said. “It was well-attended by friends, family and supporters of the arts in and outside of the community.”Zelienka, who has taught art at St. John Neumann Regional School in Palmerton for more than a decade, offers informal teaching opportunities such as private paint parties and fundraising events, and leads art classes at the center.“I received a call from the art center to see if I’d be interested in teaching some art classes here,” she said. “I was informed I’m the top artist for sales of paintings for the artist of the month since they have been open.”Zelienka’s work captures the essence of her subject — the spirit of a person or the core element of an inanimate object.Further, she said she was informed that she’s the top artist for sales of paintings for the Artist of the Month since they have been open.Zelienka attended Northampton Community College, and was a student of local artists Mary Kocher and William Wentz.Her work will be on display at the center until March 25.
