A tributeto the soldiers

Dear Editor:

Once upon a time i used to sit at the VFW Post 8067 in downtown Jim Thorpe. It's no longer there, but the memories still remain. I would listen to the stories the veterans would tell. I wanted to honor those veterans with a poem, one for the soldiers. We all know someone who served or is now serving in some way and this poem is my own little way of saying thank you!!Return Me Home(A Soldier's Poem)As a child I would listen in aweTo the tales those men told meOf the wars and things they sawIn a place and time across the seaWe should remember those talesSo they never have to recallThat old pain when all else failsWhere brothers began to fallReach into the stories and knowThat they did what we could notOff to war before they could growThey see the flag and feel the knotI sat right there and listened wellTo an old man with a heavy heartTo every story that he had to tellA prayer, just a whisper to startReturn me home, feet on the groundReturn me home, to where i belongReturn me home, where love is foundUnder OUR colors, still flying strong….Mark S DriesbachJim ThorpeFor those men, who told the tales, and us taught to have pride in not justOur country but those who fought for it as well….Thank You!
