Imagine having fresh produce right at your fingertips.

Come Saturday, that will be a reality when the Lehighton Downtown Farmers Market debuts.The Producer Goods Only Farmers Market will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through Oct. 7 in the borough park.To kick off the event, there will be a craft show from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., music by JoNean Kimmel from 9-11 a.m., a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., music by Damian Walck from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Kim The Morning Chick from WMGH, who will be live.The farmers market will feature a lineup of local producer goods vendors to bring a wide range of food, such as vegetables, eggs, cakes, and grass fed meats.Local vendors will include Foothill Farm, Teprovich Farm, AJ Fogel Farm, Minifarm Microgreens, White Confections, R.G. Stewart Family Farm, Blended Bakery, Greenway Apiaries, Graver Farmstead, Eliese SoapSuds and Fire Fly Farm.In addition to the farmers market, there will also be food vendors, live music and other activities."The LDI's goal is to be able to highlight Lehighton's beautiful downtown, and also provide our community with goods that you won't find in the grocery store," said Jared McEvoy, president of the LDI."The LDI is thrilled to have been able to put this together for the community, and we hope that folks will take some time to come and visit us and enjoy the festivities."Vendor space is still available, according to Bambi Elsasser, treasurer of the LDI."We hope that everybody comes out to support our local farmers, and to be able to eat healthy," Elsasser said.Elsasser said special events will be held on the third Saturday of each month.She said there will be a Small Business Event June 17; Christmas in July Craft Show July 15; Old Fashioned Day in the Park Aug. 19; and Flea Market and Yard Sale Sept. 16.Anyone interested in being a part of the event should email
