May 10, 1950 Coaldale's relay teams participate in the annual Gene Venzke Relays at Boyertown and capture a first and second place finish. The half-mile foursome of Joe Trechak, Lauriano Paulo, Joe Kerak and George McCartney turns in a time of 1:38.5 to edge out Quakertown for the gold. The same four runners combine for a runner-up spot and silver medals in the mile relay, completing the race in 3:42.
