Rush-Ryan Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met Feb. 25 at Christ Church in Barnesville with 47 members in attendance. President Robert Neifert opened the meeting with the reading “Of Charity and Love.”

Warm welcomes were extended to returning members Jayne McLaughlin, Vonnie Kotchmar and Judy Smith. Paul Randig and Marlene Randig were crowned Valentine King and Queen at the Feb. 11 meeting.

Upcoming events for the group include: March 16, Mohegan Sun Casino; May 12, anniversary dinner at Capriotti’s, McAdoo.

Election of officers will take place in May. All dues for 2020 must be paid by May.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 1 p.m. at Christ Church, Barnesville. The group is open to anyone 55 or older.

Soup social

Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St., will continue its free monthly soup social on March 7.

Free soup and fellowship will be available from 4 to 6 p.m.

Participants are asked to use the lower parking lot entrance to the church social hall.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met Feb. 27 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 46 members in attendance. The vice president opened the meeting with the reading “God’s Gifts.”

October, November, December, January and February birthdays were celebrated with cupcakes and ice cream.

The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA. The next meeting will be on March 5.

Baby food ministry

Saint Vincent de Paul of Saint John XXIII Baby Food Ministry registration is underway.

Free baby food will be given for babies from birth to 1 year at the Church Hall, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua, on the third Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m. by appointment only.

Registration is required at least three days before distribution online at tamaquasvdp@outlook.com or by phone at 570-225-8620 from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday.

This is open to residents of the Tamaqua Area School District, or members of Saint John XXIII Parish.

Bethany EC

The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday Life groups are held at 9:30 a.m. Also on Sunday, there will be a TYM Remix Staff meeting at noon and Women’s Study Life group at 6:30 p.m.

Activities for the week include: Monday, Men’s Step Study at 5:30 p.m., Women’s Step Study at 5:30 p.m., Celebrate Recovery at 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, GriefShare at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Junior membership at 6:30 p.m., TYM Remix at 6:30 p.m., Worship practice at 8 p.m.; Thursday, Hometown Nursing Home service at 1 p.m., Coffee and Conversation at 6:30 p.m. at Hope and Coffee, Membership matters life group at 6:30 p.m.; Friday, Bible study life group at 6 p.m. at 43 Maple Drive, Jim Thorpe; Saturday, NAMM Men’s breakfast at 8:30 a.m.; Church workday 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
