'Annie'

The sun will come out this weekend when Jim Thorpe Area High School Drama Club presents the hit Broadway musical "Annie."

The curtain goes up at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the high school.Set in the early 1930s, "Annie" is the story of a precocious orphan determined to run away from the orphanage and find her parents.Along the way, she teams up with a mutt she names Sandy, until they are caught and returned to the orphanage and into the hands of its villainous director, Miss Hannigan.Annie is punished for running away, but is able to convince the lovely Grace Farrell, secretary to Mr. Warbucks, the millionaire, into choosing her to be the lucky orphan to spend the holidays with Warbucks at his mansion.They all fall in love with Annie, including Warbucks, who offers to adopt her, only to learn she is desperately waiting for her parents to return.He vows to help find her parents and offers a reward for them to come forward.Enter Rooster, Hannigan's evil brother, and his girlfriend, Lily, who along with Hannigan, plot to convince Warbucks they are Annie's parents.The show is jam-packed with singing and dancing as well as authentic costumes and colorful sets.The title role of Annie is played by Brooke McElmoyle. Josiah Behrens is Daddy Warbucks. Gina Rodriguez portrays Grace. Miss Hannigan is played by Alexis Young, while Zac Dykas plays Rooster. Rudeene Jackson is Lily.The orphans are played by Mikaylah Pruitte, Lily Heydt, Trinity Murphy, Rebecca Ripley, Grace Choi, Olivia Bartholomew, Erin Remmel, Heather Moore, Stephanie Dykas and Colee Fikentscher.Other cast members are: Adam Brown, Jon Parramore, Emma Gavornik, Jordan Remmel, Siobhan Kleintop, David Bowen, Gabbi Roediger, Josephine Rodgers, Lesley Destefano, Lauren Hill, Maria Bonhomme, Janelle Niccolls, Alyssa Gregoire, Ashley Hill, Jessica Lauer, Bailey Rodgers, Thirzita Buell, Autumn Snyder, Skyler Stabin and Emily Summers."Annie" is under the direction of Natalie Kmetz.Helping behind the scenes are: Karliene Zack, Julie Romanisko, Kelly McElmoyle, Judy Romanisko, Anita Repecki, Lynn Haldeman, Alexis Young, Keri Lauer, Wilma Hoppes, Connor Rodgers, Danielle Becker, Lori Miller, Ralph Niccolls, John Fikentscher Construction, Zeb Kleintop, Abraham Buell, Monique Javier and Ilya Gadzick.
