Palmerton Area Democratic Club meets Sept. 14

"They're building WHAT in my back yard?! " Regional Planning will be the topic for the Palmerton Area Democratic Club meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Fireline Hotel, Bowmanstown.

Angela Farrel, Chair of the Lower Towamensing Planning Commission, will be the featured speaker addressing why we should care about Regional Planning. Her featured topic "They're building WHAT in my back yard?! Regional Planning in the Palmerton Area School District" will give an overview of what is involved in the planning process and discuss some of the bigger issues raised as to what will be allowed in certain zones in the districte. g. stores, industry, houses of worship, water parks, wind mills, condos, solar panels, kennels and/or trash collection sites to name a few."One of the goals of our PADC is to educate and be a forum to discuss issues that will impact our region," said Sarina Berlow, Club President. "As our surrounding area develops and grows, it's important that we as citizens become informed and proactively involved in thinking through the implications of broader matters like this for our community."The area covered by the Club includes Palmerton, Bowmanstown, Towamensing Township and Lower Towamensing Township. Meetings are monthly, the second Tuesday of the month, September to May, 7 p.m. at the Fireline Hotel, Bowmanstown.
