Eight of nine teams within a game of top

The Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission (ESRC) Summer Basketball League completed its first full week of action this past Wednesday night.

Defending League Champion Vesuvio's picked up a win in its first game of the season, but a log jam exists in the standings, as eight of the nine teams are currently within a game of first-place.The biggest highlight of this week came in Wednesday's nightcap when Martin's Printing defeated Sherry Dental 105-95 in the highest scoring game in ESRC history.MONDAY'S RESULTSDJ 1:01-Batter's BoxDJ 1:01 evened up its record with a 62-61 victory over Batter's Box.Mike Conley led DJ 1:01 with 20 points, while Joe Conley added 12. Kyle Schaeffer also amassed 10 points for the winners.For Batter's Box, Erick Trabal netted 20 points, while Bejtullah Mehmeti tacked on 14.Vesuvio's-Lucky's DeliThe defending League Champion picked up right where they left off last season, as Vesuvio's handed Lucky's Deli a 65-60 setback.Danny Maguschak paced Vesuvio's with 17 points, while Joe Madochick factored in with 16. Carlos Rivas also added 12 points in the winning effort.Damien Lewis' 16-point performance was tops for Lucky's Deli, while Jack Buchinsky and Eric Carter added 12 points apiece.Sherry Dental-Dedicated FitnessIn a battle of league newcomers, Sherry Dental disposed of Dedicated Fitness 82-51 and became the first team in the league to post two victories .Jimmy Wagner had a game-high 25 points to lead Sherry Dental. Kyle McGee (19 points), Chris Russell (17 points and Shavinskin Thomas (15 points) also scored in double-figures.For Dedicated Fitness, Jake Szczecina netted 16 points. Kyle Ferryman and Thad Ogozalek scored 13 and 12 points respectively.WEDNESDAY'S RESULTSDom N Ali's-Dedicated FitnessMatt Yaich scored 45 points to lead Dom N Ali's to an 80-71 victory over Dedicated Fitness.Ryan Gimbi tallied 15 points and Damien Lewis added 10 for the winners.Jeff Yordy scored a team-high 25 points to lead Dedicated Fitness. Jake Szczecina added 16 points in the losing effort.E MortgageManagement-DJ 1:01E Mortgage Management got things turned around with a 69-65 victory over DJ 1:01.Jeremy Frey led E Mortgage Management with a game-high 32 points. Casey McMasters also scored 13 points.For DJ 1:01, Mike Conley had 29 points. Rob Miller added 15 points.Martin's Printing-Sherry DentalMartin's Printing and Sherry Dental made ESRC history as the two teams combined for 200 points, which marked the highest scoring game in the 17-year history of ESRC basketball. When the smoke cleared, it was Martin's Printing that emerged with a 105-95 victory.Ethan Eichhorst paced Martin's Printing with a game-high 35 points . Parris Cleveland knocked down seven triples for 27 points. Brandon DeCosmo also buried five treys for 21 points.Sherry Dental placed five players in double-figures with Jimmy Wagner's 23 points and five three-pointers leading the way. Mike Backo also knocked down five three's for 21 points.
