July 15, 1955 Mike Hurley pitches a seven-hitter to lead Jim Thorpe to a 5-1 Tri-County League win over Lansford. Hurley, who walks one and strikes out seven, doesn't allow a run for eight frames before losing his shutout bid in the ninth inning. At the plate, Hurley collects two hits and scores a pair of runs. The winners, managed by Mickey Hodor, also receive two hits and a run scored from Walt Ligenza. For Lansford, Bobby Slaby and Johnny Horoschak each finish with two hits.
