August 6, 1980 Ken Snerr belts a walk-off homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Jim Thorpe an 8-7 win over Tamaqua in a Panther Valley Little League tournament game. Snerr breaks the tie by sending the first pitch of the frame over the right-field fence. The winners also receive a three-run homer from Scott Miller and a two-run shot from Tom Carrigan. Snerr finishes with three hits and three runs while Carrigan ends with three hits and two runs. Miller, Pat Large and Greg Strubinger each contribute a pair of hits. For Tamaqua, Gene Marchioni and Glenn Comisac both hit homers.
