Pleasant Valley School District is mourning the loss of one of its own.
On Tuesday afternoon, the school district issued a statement informing the Pleasant Valley community of the sudden and unexpected death of high school social studies teacher Chris Pachuta.
Pachuta, 35, of Kunkletown, had also been the school’s varsity boys soccer head coach since 2009.
“It is with great sadness that we must inform the Pleasant Valley community of the death of one of our faculty members,” the statement read.
“Mr. Chris Pachuta, high school social studies teacher and soccer coach, passed away this morning. Mr. Pachuta’s passing has deeply affected us all.
“We offer our deepest condolences to Chris’ family, friends, students and co-workers who could not have prepared for this sudden loss. We ask all of you to keep Chris and his family in your thoughts and prayers.”
The district also made arrangements for grief counselors to be available to students today at the high school. Counseling will also be available to faculty and staff.
Pachuta was a graduate of Notre Dame Green Pond High School and held degrees from Kutztown University, DeSales University and the California University of Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his wife, Angela, and their twin sons.
