The oldest home in Jim Thorpe was so designated today with the placement of a wooden plaque at the dwelling of Mrs. Robert Wells, 61 West Broadway. The plaque was attached to the 127-year-old building by Joseph Hirochok, president of the Mauch Chunk Historical Society. Hirochok hand-carved the 12-by-12 inch mahogony sign. Following a brief ceremony in front of the white, brick home, members of the society then toured the building.
