Three get top seeds

Three area wrestlers will head to this weekend's District 11 Class AA championship tournament as top seeds in their weight classes.

Jim Thorpe's Kevan Gentile, a junior who went 29-0 this year is the No. 1 seed at 106. Tamaqua's Dylan Rynkiewicz (Sr., 28-2) is on top of the 138-pound bracket, while Lehighton's Connor Frey (Jr. 24-3) is in the top slot at 182.Northern Lehigh has the most top-three seeds in the area. The Bulldogs junior Matt Schall (132, 24-3) and sophomore Ryan Farber (145, 24-3) are No. 2 seeds, while teammates Colton Rex (113, 21-3), Conrad Young (152, 22-6) and Cameron Kates (285, 24-3) are No. 3 seeds.Panther Valley has three wrestlers in the top three, including No. 2 Rian Shubeck (195, 14-1) and three-seeds Hunter Kennedy (132, 20-12) and Dylan Moyer (170, 20-9).Other area qualifers who earned top-three seeds include Lehighton's Tegan Durishin (No. 2 at 138, 23-6) and Zachary Kemmerer (No. 3 at 120, 20-6); Palmerton's Zachary Graver (No. 2 at 170, 17-4) and Jarred Mooney (No. 3 at 182, 21-8); Northwestern's Quentin Bernhard (No. 2 at 120, 21-3); and Tamaqua's Tanner McHugh (No. 2 at 126, 28-3).In Class AAA, Pleasant Valley's Ahman Curtis (18-6) earned the No. 2 seed at 285.The tournaments take place Friday and Saturday in Bethlehem.Championship finals and consolation finals in both classes will be held Saturday evening at Liberty High School. All rounds, up to and including semifinals, will be held at separate locations, with Class AA competing at Freedom High School and Class AAA at Liberty.
