Group home coming to Slatington

A group home for up to four residents is on its way to Slatington.

The borough's Zoning Hearing Board on a 2- 0 vote Wednesday granted a special exception to Robbin Borrell-Gray for a group home to be operated at property located at 435 Main Street.Zoning board Chairman Lee Andreas and zoner Mel Gildner voted in favor. Zoning board vice chairman Dru Nierer was absent. However, as part of their approval, the zoners attached three conditions, according to Andreas.Andreas said those conditions are that there are to be no more than four clients, the approval is for the applicant only, who must maintain operational status/ownership; and the owner has to make sure she keeps up with all licenses and demands as per state requirements on a yearly basis.Gray sought an interpretation special exception and/or a variance to permit a group home, assisted living facility and/or boarding house to be operated at the site, which is located in a Town Residential zoning district.
