Tamaqua man jailed in assault

David J. Alsing, 26, of North Greenwood Street, Tamaqua, was placed in the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville on Oct. 15 after a domestic incident at his home.

Tamaqua police were contacted by a man at 3:55 a.m., who said a woman in the second house on Greenwood Street was being attacked.

Officers arrived and saw Alsing standing over a woman, who was prone on the floor. Alsing grabbed her by the hair, pulled her head up, then slammed her head off the floor. Police entered the home and took Alsing into custody.

The woman said they were at a local pub when Alsing proposed marriage. The happy occasion turned ugly after a few more drinks were consumed and an argument started. As they walked home, Alsing became so angry he smashed a window on a house at 338 Pine St. Things became more violent once they reached home and she was thrown threw a window at one point.

Alsing was cited for simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief. He was arraigned before duty District Magisterial Judge James Reiley, of Pottsville, who set bail at $15,000 straight cash.
