Former Marian grads meet this weekend

A pair of former Marian Catholic products - Anthony Pilla and Ryan Karnish - will meet Saturday when Massachusetts Institute of Technology travels to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in a non-league contest.

Pilla, a senior, was named a captain for RPI (1-1) this year and has contributed to the defense from his linebacker position with six total tackles, including 2.5 for loss. In 2014, Pilla played in all 11 games, recording 41 tackles, including 22 unassisted. He led the team with 8.5 tackles for loss (32 yards) and 2.5 sacks (17 yards) and also had a team-high three forced fumbles, recovering one.Karnish, a junior defensive back, has notched eight tackles so far this season for MIT (0-2). In 2014, Karnish played in all 11 games in the defensive backfield for the Engineers, getting in on 18 tackles for the season and sharing the team lead with a pair of interceptions. MIT qualified for the NCAA Division III playoffs a year ago, advancing to the second round before losing to Wesley.The game kicks off at noon from ECAV Stadium in Troy, New York.
