What a game Austyn Borre had for Pleasant Valley Friday night.

The 5-10, 190 senior running back carried six times for 107 yards and two touchdowns, blocked a punt and recovered the fumble in the end zone for another touchdown, and caught two passes for 11 yards. His power helped the Bears defeat Allen, 38-14, for their first win of the season. Allen suffered it fourth straight loss.Pleasant Valley took control from its opening possession. The Bears scored on six of their seven first half possessions. The led 38-0 at the break, causing the mercy rule to come into effect. The starters sat for the entire second half. It was late in the game when the Canaries finally hit the score board.Pleasant Valley coach Dave Pacchioni was obviously pleased with his team's performance."Going 0-3, coming in here we were looking for something special," he said. "I think our offense executed the way it needed to."Our quarterback was efficient and we had a great job from our running backs running the football. Our line was young at the beginning of the season and now I think they're starting to gel very well."Pacchioni termed Borre "a special kid, a special player." He said of Borre, "He can run the ball, he can catch the ball and he blocked a punt for a touchdown"The coach also had praise for his defense, noting how they held Allen to just two completed passes in the first half and only 41 offensive yards in the first quarter. It took the Bears just four offensive plays to score their first touchdown. The TD came from Trent Thomas who ran 11 yards around the right side untouched into the end zone. The second touchdown was a 61-yard pass play from quarterback Michael Brown to Borre. The assault never ceased all through the first half.In that first half, Allen crossed midfield just once, scratching to the 30 yard line before giving up the ball on downs.HE BORRE DOWN ON ALLEN ... Three of Borre's six catches were for double-digit gains, including gains of 40 and 30 yards. On one of those plays, three Allen defenders clung to Borre and he just kept going and going. The ref finally blew the whistle because his forward progress stopped, but he still didn't go down.BIG GAME ON TAP ... Although Pleasant Valley started out with three losses, including falling to powerful Bethlehem Catholic and Whitehall, coach Pacchioni says there are more tough games ahead. "Next week it's Pocono Mountain West," he said, "We're playing it week-by-week. We're not looking ahead to anybody."NON SUPPORT ... It was a dismal turnout of Allen fans for the game. When the game started there were just 28 fans sitting in the visitor side bleachers. At the start of the second half, just 18 fans had joined the band on that side of the field.KICKING WOES ... Allen not only had a punt blocked by Borre, but on its first punt attempt, the ball sailed over the punter's head. He recovered but got only to his 29 yard line giving PV great field position.
