Matsinko enjoys a perfect week in Grid Picks
Pat Matsinko likes to take an occasional run here and there and is probably the guy in the best shape of all of the crew here in the Times News Sports Department. So it's no surprise that he likes to pace himself as part of our Grid Picks gang also.
Matsinko paced himself so good last week that he finished the week with a perfect 15-0 record to move into a first place tie with Rod Heckman entering Week 4 of the high school season.Heckman didn't do too bad either with a 14-1 record along with a few others.Myself, on the other hand, went out on a limb on two games, lost them both, and find myself a little behind the pack at the moment. There is plenty of time left, however, so there is no need to worry just yet.So let's look at this week and see what the Ol' Crystal Ball sees:BLUE MOUNTAIN AT LEHIGHTON - The Indians get another big test with the unbeaten Eagles in town and there is no reason to think they'll get stopped here…Lehighton, 28-18.NO. SCHUYLKILL AT MARIAN - The Colts have been running on all cylinders, while the Spartans have hit a few early bumps in the road. They hit another one…Marian, 21-7.NORTHERN LEHIGH AT NOTRE DAME GP - The Crusaders are unbeaten and cost us a game last week with a win over Salisbury. Bulldogs played unbeaten Saucon tough before falling two weeks ago. They get another shot at a tough team here…Northern Lehigh, 14-13.PALISADES AT PALMERTON - Blue Bombers can't look ahead to next week's contest with Notre Dame. They've got to take care of business one game at a time…Palmerton, 28-14.PANTHER VALLEY AT SHENANDOAH VALLEY - Panthers have to forget last week's meltdown at Mahanoy Area. They've got a shot at their first win here…Panther Valley, 21-6.TAMAQUA AT SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Raiders have to forget last week, too. Last week's loss to Jim Thorpe opened some eyes…Tamaqua, 28-18.TRI-VALLEY AT JIM THORPE - Learned a lesson last week. The "Red Swarm" is back…Jim Thorpe, 14-7.ALLEN AT PLEASANT VALLEY - Bears host Canaries and finally get a chance to taste a "W"…Pleasant Valley, 35-0.NORTHWESTERN AT WILSON - Tigers seem to be on a roll since that opening week loss to Notre Dame…Northwestern, 28-0.WHITEHALL AT LIBERTY - Zephyrs are a team that have been a problem for me thus far in the early season, so I am going with…Liberty, 21-20.MINERSVILLE AT MAHANOY AREA - Golden Bears put together a good win last week. They do it'd again…Mahanoy Area, 35-14.NAZARETH AT EMMAUS - Blue Eagles have shown some toughness in the EPC early. This could be a good one…Nazareth, 28-27.BANGOR AT SALISBURY - Slaters still haven't scored an offensive touchdown this year so this was an easy one…Salisbury, 28-0.EASTON AT CENTRAL CATHOLIC - Red Rovers seem to be running on all cylinders. Vikings were until they ran into the Parkland buzzsaw…Easton, 35-14.SOUTHERN LEHIGH AT PEN ARGYL - Spartans need to get back on track after last week's second half meltdown…Southern Lehigh, 35-7.
