September 29, 1972 - Slatington breaks a scoreless tie in the third quarter and receives the benefit of a key penalty late in the game to hold off Lehighton, 7-6, in a Lehigh Valley Legion contest. The Bulldogs, coached by George Yaniger, get on the board first when Bob Edwards breaks free for a 42-yard touchdown run. Steve Hluschak follows with the all-important extra point. The Indians drive the field and score with 2:28 left in the fourth quarter. A two-point conversion appears to give Lehighton the lead but a penalty negates the play. The second attempt fails and Slatington hangs on for the victory. Edwards finishes with 120 yards on 18 carries.
