Hannah, an American Boxer puppy, has had a very rough beginning in life.
And it looks like it just might get rougher. At five months old, she had to have her left hind leg amputated because of an injury she sustained in a puppy mill that was not tended to until she developed gangrene. Now she faces surgery on her right hind leg because it was probably injured as well. Learning to walk in compensating for the loss of her other leg has created some serious issues that need to be corrected. She is currently in the foster home of Suzi Gilbert, vice president of the animal shelter, Waggin' Tails.Waggin' Tails relies on donations to help it shelter, feed and offer medical aide to abandoned and abused pets. It is in need of those donations to help Hannah. The students of Pleasant Valley Intermediate School, under the leadership of teacher Susan Featro, will be holding a fundraiser for Hannah on Tuesday, June 8, at the Burger King on Rt. 209, Brodheadsville. If you eat at Burger King between the hours of 5-8 p.m. (eat in or drive thru) and bring in a flyer, a percentage of the sales will go to help Hannah and other animals from Waggin' Tails. The flyer must be presented for your purchase to count. For more information, contact Susan Featro for a flyer at
Susan@pvbears.org or
suzi@gilbear.com.Suzi and Hannah will be at the Burger King from 5-7 p.m. to visit with you.
LINDA KOEHLER/TIMES NEWS Hannah is hoping for a good response to the fundraiser to help offset costs for her upcoming surgery.
