East Stroudsburg University head coach Diane Decker is the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Coach of the Year.
Decker, a former standout player at Marian High School and Villanova University, guided ESU to a 15-13 overall record and a 12-10 mark in the PSAC. The Warriors won 14 of their final 20 games after a 1-7 start to the season.ESU was picked seventh in the PSAC East preseason poll, but earned a fourth-place finish in the regular season and a spot in the PSAC quarterfinals. The Warriors beat Bloomsburg in their playoff opener before being eliminated by No. 1 seed West Chester, 70-65.The Warriors' season included a 74-73 win over No. 13-ranked California, the defending PSAC and NCAA Division II champions on Jan. 3 for the program's first win over a nationally-ranked team since 1995.Decker was in her first season as head coach at ESU following seven seasons as an assistant at Bloomsburg. Decker was previously ESU's acting head coach in 2007-08. She was an assistant coach for three seasons (2004-05 through 2006-07), which included PSAC East regular season titles in 2006 and 2007.Decker is the third ESU coach named PSAC East Coach of the Year, joining Rose Haller (1994 and 1995) and Juliene Simpson (2006 and 2007).
