Jacen Nalesnik enjoyed an outstanding junior season on the Lehigh University baseball team, and was recently named to the Patriot League's second team all-star squad.
Nalesnik, a Lehighton graduate, led his team in three offensive categories and tied for first in another.The junior hit a team-best .333 and also paced the Mountain Hawks with a .419 on-base percentage. Nalesnik was also tops in hits (70), and tied for the team lead in triples (4). In addition, the history major was second on the team in runs scored (49), home runs (7), walks (23), stolen bases (9), and slugging percentage (.533).The former Times News Baseball Player of the Year, who was moved to the leadoff spot this season, added 14 doubles and knocked in 36 runs. He started all 54 games in the outfield.Nalesnik ended his season in impressive fashion, going 9-for-15 in Lehigh's three-game Patriot League semifinal playoff series with Holy Cross. In the three games, he collected two doubles and four homers, scoring four runs in driving home nine.
