Palmerton graduate Austin Shupp, a redshirt-sophomore for Shippensburg University, broke his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles recently at the Susquehanna University Challenge.
Shupp, who broke the school record as a freshman with a time of 8.22 seconds and then tied that effort last year, ran 8.19 seconds in the finals of the indoor track and field competition to move into second on the current Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) performance list for the event. The performance is a NCAA-provisional qualifier.Also, Shupp picked up his conference qualifier in the long jump by recording a mark of 21 feet, 6 1/4 inches.The former Blue Bomber was a gold medalist in the 110 high hurdles at the PIAA state meet in 2014.
