Five from area enter guilty pleas
Five area residents were among 12 who entered guilty pleas last Thursday in the Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by Judge D. Michael Stine as follows:
James Doyle, 34, Zions Grove, on a charge of simple assault was given credit for serving 30 days in the county prison and was released on parole for 18 months and ordered to pay a fine of $150 plus costs of prosecution, make restitution of $351.50 to the Department of Public Welfare and have no contact with the victim, Kristiann Gallagher, of 36 Blaine St., McAdoo. Doyle was cited by Patrolman Jeremy Talanca, McAdoo police, last Nov. 19.Ronald Warren Eidem Jr., 31, of 1862 Long Run Road, Lehighton, on a charge of retail theft from Walmart Store, Rush Township, was fined $200 and on a charge of harassment fined $100 plus costs. He was cited by Patrolman Brian Thompson, Rush Township police, last July 14.Chad M. Eschbach, 29,m of 253 E. Patterson St., Lansford, on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for six months with the first 15 days to be served under house arrest with electronic surveillance. He also must pay a fine of $1,000, pay court costs, pay $100 to the Substance Abuse Education (SAE)) fund, make restitution of $60 to the Schuylkill Medical Center and undergo intensive outpatient counseling. On a charge failing to have the rear lights on his vehicle operating properly was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Eschbach was cited by Patrolman Charles Blesse, Coaldale Police, last June 12.Justin M. Neff, 24, of 119 Pine St., Tamaqua, on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was placed on probation 30 days, pay a fine of $100, pay $100 to SAE fund, pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancemetn Account (CJEA) and make restituiton of $113 to the Bethlehem Regional Lab. Neff was cited by Sgt. Richard Weaver, Tamaqua police, last May 7.James Robertson, 64, Hazleton, on a charge of DUI was placed in the IPP for six months with the first 15 days served under house arrest with electronic monitoring, pay a fine of $100, pay $300 to SAE fund, pay $50 to CJEA, attend the alcohol highway safe driving school and undergo counseling. Robertson was cited by Patrolman Jeffrey Wainwright, McAdoo police, last Aug. 21.David Caleb Hiraldo, 24, Pottsville, on charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and disorderly conduct was placed on probation for 12 months, pay a fine of $150, pay $100 to SAE fund, pay $50 to CJEA and make restitution of $50 to district attorney's office for service of a bench warrant on him. Hiraldo was cited by Patrolman Eugene M. Yourey, Pottsville police, last Dec. 14.Kathleen Ann Galavage, 57, Pottsville, on a charge of driving a vehicle without a driver's license was fined $200 and for failing to stop at a stop sign fined $25 plus costs of prosecution. She was cited by Patrolman John Mohl, Pottsville police, on Aug. 17, 2008.Matthew Thomas Mahute, 23, Lancaster, on a charge of DUI was placed in the IPP for six months, pay a fine of $300, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. He also must attend the alcohol highway safe driving school and enroll in the chemical dependency treatment program. Supervision of his probation is transferred to Lancaster County. Mahute was cited by Trooper David Mayes last Oct. 3.Dustin Thomas Makara, 27, Minersville, on two counts of retail theft from the Turkey Hill Mini Mart, Shenandoah, of one package of gum and one package of beef, total value of both items less than $10, was placed on probation 12 months and pay a fine of $150. He was cited by on July 6 and 7, 2009.Michael Missimer, 79, Birdsboro, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance (CS) when stopped by Patrolman Joseph R. Welsh, Pottsville police, last March 17, was placed on probation for 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. On a charge of driving an unregistered vehicle was fined $25 and for failing to carry car insurance fined $300 plus $100 in costs.Christina L. Schaffer, 36, Reading, on a charge of disorderly conduct as brought by Patrolman Grant Yoder, Pottsville police, last April 7 was fined $200 plus court costs.Brian Dennis Shomper, 37, Tower City, on a charge of DUI was placed on probation six months, pay a fine of $300, pay $100 to SAE fund, pay $50 to CJEA, enroll in alcohol highway safe driving school and undergo substance abuse counciling. Shomper was cited by Trooper David Yurick last September.All defendants must pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
