The driver of a vehicle that crashed on Wednesday night on the Quakake Road in Packer Township, who was pronounced dead at the scene, has been identified as a 50-year-old Weatherly man.

State police at Hazleton said Ronald James McMullen lost his life in the tragedy that happened about one mile east of Rt. 93.Police said McMullen was driving a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer west on Quakake Road with two flat tires when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to strike a utility pole. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt.Power was interrupted in that area for several hours until utility workers were able to replace the pole that was sheared in half in the crash.
