Prothonotary's report

A total of 272 cases were started in April in the office of Carbon County Prothonotary Joann M. Behrens, according to a monthly statistical report released by the officeholder. A breakdown of the cases is as follows:Assessment appeal, 1; civil actions, 46; custody complaints,15; district justice appeals, 5; divorce complaints, 10; ejectment complaints, 3; eminent domain/petition for viewers, 1; license appeals, 3; mortgage foreclosure complaints, 29; miscellaneous, 3; protection from abuse petitions, 20; quiet title action, 1; audit/financial report, 1; court appointment, 1; judgments, 119; judicial sale, 3; stipulations/waivers of liens, 10; and writ of execution, 1. The office staff also received and processed 85 applications for U.S. Passports.Behrens' financial report shows $30,209.54 was generated as follows: prothonotary's fees, $24,565.90; interest income, $9.54; PFA Surcharge, courts, $50, PFA Surcharge, Sheriff, $50; custody fees, $900; data processing fees, $4,634.10.The prothonotary also remitted $3,334.42 to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Revenue, representing state fees collected locally, and $66 to the Administrative Offices of the Pennsylvania Courts, this being surcharges on new custody cases in accordance with Act 119 of 1996.
