Tamaqua Area School Board took action on the following items on Tuesday:

• Acknowledged that professional employee Jessica Mazaika should be given professional status as of Feb. 16.• Approved Jodi Funk as a professional substitute teacher, effective March 7.• Approved Brittany Hill as a professional substitute teacher, effective March 7.• Approved Lisa DeHaven as a part-time paraprofessional, effective Feb. 24.• Approved Beth Stolarski as a substitute paraprofessional.• Approved Janelle McDonald as a professional substitute guest teacher.• Approved unpaid days for high school teacher Nichole Beltz as follows: Feb. 3, half day, Feb. 4, full day.• Rescinded the motion of Jan. 19, removing Megan Hahner from the professional substitute list.• Approved an agreement between the school district and Schuylkill County MH/DS/D&A Program effective Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2016.• Approved Feb. 15 as an elementary-only Act 80 day. High school and middle school will be a snow makeup day.• Agreed to execute a contract with St. Luke's for athletic training services for a three-year term effective July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2019.• Agreed to place delinquent real estate taxes from the 2015 collection with Portnoff Law Associates.• Authorized Portnoff Law Associates to schedule a list of properties for Sheriff's Sale.At its committee meetings held earlier in the evening, the board also took the following action:• The Finance Committee approved the 2016-17 Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 administrative and program budget. A resolution will be placed on the March 15 school board meeting.• The Education Committee made a recommendation to approve the request of Lawrence Capozelli to take his physics classes to the Annual Physics Day at Great Adventure Six Flags Amusement Park, New Jersey, on May 6, leaving the high school at 8 a.m. and returning at around 10:30 p.m. A resolution will be placed on the March 15 school board agenda.• The Finance Committee made a recommendation to appoint Professional School Photography as the district's school photographer for the 2016-17 school year. A resolution will be placed on the March 15 school board agenda.• Recognized Sophia Waltman, fifth grade, West Penn Elementary; Layla Kunkel, fourth grade, Tamaqua Elementary; Alexis Aponcho, fourth grade, West Penn Elementary; and Syvanna Leapool, first grade, West Penn Elementary, as students of the month.
