Thirteen first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program Friday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.
If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year:Lauren D. DiSanto, 32, of Albrightsville was placed on a charge of driving under the influence. She was arrested on Sept. 11by Kidder Township police along Route 1003. A test revealed a 0.10 BAC.She was assessed $500 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license suspended for 30 days.Alexander Todd Hartnett, 29, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Nov. 11along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.10 BAC.He was assessed $500 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license suspended for 30 days.Michael Joseph Hillegas, 29, of West Chester, Chester County, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on May 21by Kidder Township police along Route 903. A test revealed a 0.11 BAC.He was assessed $500 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Zachary Peter Keim, 26, of Barnesville, was placed on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on May 3along Abbott Street by Lansford police.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, get a drug and alcohol evaluation, and follow any recommendation for treatment.Ashley Nicole Kelly, 21, of Summit Hill, was placed on a charge of endangering the welfare of children. She was arrested on Oct. 24by Summit Hill police after her 2-year-old son was found alone in the 400 block of West White Street naked.She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and attend and complete parenting classes.Xaneve Penny King, 35, of Brooklyn, New York, was placed on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. She was arrested on July 12along I-80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge.She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Shane Patrick McGeehan, 21, of Summit Hill, was placed on a charge of possession of DUI. He was arrested on Nov. 22by state police at Lehighton along Route 902 in Lansford. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 90 days.Randy Robert Michlovsky, 19, of Palmerton, as placed on a charge of criminal trespass. He was arrested on Jan. 1, 2016, by Nesquehoning police for entering two residences along West Railroad Street.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, make restitution in an amount to be determined by the adult probation office and have no contact with the victims.Brandon Taylor Pfeiffer, 29, of Lansford, was placed on a charge of resisting arrest. He was arrested on Jan. 6 in the area of 220 E. Abbott St. by Lansford police.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow all recommendations for treatment.Julia Ann Prusik, 35, of Effort, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Oct. 9by Kidder Township police along Route 903. A test revealed a 0.24 BAC.She was assessed $550 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.George Alan Szackska, 55, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine. He was arrested on Nov. 23by state police at Lehighton along West Lizard Creek Road in East Penn Township.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment.Connie Margarita Vega, 24, of Long Pond, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on July 5along Steel Plant Street by Weatherly police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.She was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program and those charged with DUI must follow all recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
