Fifteen defendants in pending criminal cases were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Tuesday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.Kenneth G. Ahner Jr., 46, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of theft. He was arrested on Oct. 8, 2016, by Nesquehoning police for stealing items from a KME plant where he was then employed.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, make restitution in an amount to be determined by the adult probation office and stay off the KME property.Michael James Weaver, 42, of Nesquehoning, was placed on a theft charge. He was arrested along with Ahner at the KME plant, taking various items.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, make restitution in an amount to be determined by the adult probation office and stay off the KME property.Brandon James Capone, 24, of Weatherly, was placed on a driving under the influence charge. He was arrested on April 28, 2016, along Brenkman Drive, in Packer Township, by state police at Hazleton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was assessed $550 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.Frank Dangelo, 56, of Hazleton, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on June 21, 2016, along Hunter Street by Nesquehoning police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.Amy Lee Degenhart, 23, of Hazleton, was placed on a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police. She was arrested on Aug. 11, 2016, along Main Street by Weatherly police. She was charged with 12 counts, two felonies and 10 summaries, all placed in the program.She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Jessica Marie Dementri, 23, of Jim Thorpe, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on June 16, 2016, along the 800 block of East Patterson Street by Lansford police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.She was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.James Jonathan Haraschak, 27, of Freeland, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Sept. 2, 2016, along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.Darlene Marie Linares, 47, of Albrightsville, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Aug. 19, 2016, along Route 534 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.08 BAC.She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Kaitlyn Nicole Meck, 24, of Saint Johns, Luzerne County, was placed on a fleeing or attempting to elude police charge. She was arrested on Aug. 11, 2016, along Main Street by Weatherly police. She was charged with 12 counts, all placed in the program.She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Yolanda Medina, 54, of Palmerton, was placed on an unsworn falsification to authorities charge. She was arrested on Sept. 30, 2016, by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store.She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Brian Jay Ohl Jr., 21, of Jim Thorpe, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on June 11, 2016, by Nesquehoning police along Holland Street. A test revealed a 0.14 BAC.He was assessed $500 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 30 days.Dennis William Repetz, 28, of Tresckow, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on June 7, 2016, along Market Street in Banks Township by state police at Hazleton. A test revealed a 0.10 BAC.He was assessed $500 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.David A. Salla, 67, of Summit Hill, was placed on a charge of simple assault. He was arrested on Sept. 3, 2016, by Summit Hill police for an incident at 254 E. Ludlow St., with a female the listed victim.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and attend and successfully complete anger management counseling.Joaquin Oscar Sanchez, 41, of Cleveland, Ohio, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Aug. 1, 2016, along Interstate 80 in East Side Borough by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.Sergey A. Shiyanov, 28, of Brooklyn, New York, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Jan. 29, 2016, along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.10 BAC.He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 30 days.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
