CC Commissioners

A water issue at the Carbon County Animal Shelter that surfaced earlier this week isn’t causing issues with the dogs’ care.

Tom Connors, director of the shelter, said that a problem with the water was noticed on Sunday and the county is working to fix the problem.

Until then, the dogs are getting the water they need from outside sources such as the dog shelter staff’s homes.

“We’re not giving the dogs any of the water from here right now because we don’t want them to get sick,” Connors said, noting that Moyer Well Drilling was called in, the system flushed and a sample test in the works.

“Hopefully we get answers soon,” he said.

The commissioners, on Thursday, confirmed there was an issue with the water at the shelter and flushed the system on the recommendation of an expert.

In another dog matter, members of For Duke: No Dog Left Behind, approached the commissioners to introduce the group and explain that its mission statement is to challenge the dog laws to make it a better place for canines.

Commissioners’ Chairman Wayne Nothstein asked the group to please give anything specific that they are looking to address in writing since the laws are created by the state and not the county.
