Police search Jonas after alleged domestic

State Police at Lehighton concluded a search effort in Polk Township on Friday after determining that no further threat was present.

At at 9:54 a.m., police were dispatched to a home on Dotters Corner Road in Jonas for a possible domestic incident. The victim reported that a man with a gun had been pounding on her front door and had then fled into a nearby wooded area.The victim was escorted from the residence and police established a perimeter around the area. Trooper David L. Peters said that local schools, including the Penn Kidder Campus in Kidder Township, were placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure.As of Friday afternoon, police were in contact with the person of interest, who has agreed to cooperate with the investigation. Police found that there was no further threat. The search perimeter was cleared and school lockdowns were lifted.Any details on possible charges are unknown at this time.“That will be determined based on his cooperation, and his version, possibly, of what happened. We’re continuing to determine what the facts are in this case. If charges are warranted, they will definitely be filed,” Peters said.
