A Carbon County man admitted on Monday in county court that he had the materials needed to make methamphetamine in his residence.
Gregory Alan Seip,45, of Lehighton, who also had addresses in Palmerton and Coopersburg, Lehigh County, also pleaded to theft and receiving stolen property charges before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.Seip was charged by Palmerton police with counts including risking or causing a catastrophe, possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, liquified ammonia gas: precursors and chemicals, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, operating a methamphetamine lab, and illegal dumping of methamphetamine waste. Charged with Seip was Maria McKittrick, 50. She and Seip were also charged with 2 counts of criminal conspiracy.The two were arrested after police were called to their residence in the 900 block of Mauch Chunk Road. While on scene police discovered hundreds of pounds of copper wire stolen from the Alliance Sand Company in Lower Towamensing Township.Police also found the materials used in making meth that led to the drug charge.The receiving charge stems from a June 13, 2015, incident in Lehighton. Seip was observed operating an all-terrain vehicle along Blakeslee Boulevard. A short chase followed with police finding Seip and the ATV behind property of the Mahoning Inn. He was then taken into custody.He is currently an inmate in the county prison on the charges.McKittrick pleaded guilty to her part in the theft of the copper wire. She is awaiting sentencing in that case. The drug charges against her is pending.Nanovic accepted the pleas but deferred sentencing ordering the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.
