A Tamaqua woman was among 23 people who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by President Judge William E. Baldwin.

Barbara Bankes, 44, of 66 Bowe Street, on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in the county prison beginning March 18 at 9 a.m., and shall not operate a motor vehicle while awaiting commitment, fined $500, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, and $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA). On a summary charge of failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic was fined $25 plus $63.50 costs. Bankes was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Charles Blesse.Amy Lynn Zapotosky, 31, of 226 E. Clark, 22, Germansville, Lehigh County, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia when stopped on Owl Creek Road, Tamaqua, Jan. 15, 2009, was given credit for serving three days in prison and released on parole for 12 months and pay court costs. Bergan previously had been admitted into the Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition (ARD) probation program for first time offender but was removed before completing his probation period because of a rule violation. The criminal record now remains with him.David Chevy Schaeffer, 24, Pottsville, on a charge of criminal mischief was sentenced to serve 12 months on probation. On a charge of being involved in an accident damaging a truck owned by Compass Rose Health Care, of Pottsville, was fined $300; failing to give notice of change of name or address on his driver's license was fined $25 and on a a charge of disorderly conduct fined $75 plus $198.50 costs and also make restitution of $500 to Compass Rose Health Care and $1,026.55 to Glatfelter Claims Management Inc. Bowers.Jeremy Leon Weaver, 26, Pottsville, on a charge of simple assault on Jamie Zuk, Pottsville, was sentenced to serve 18 months on probation, pay $50 to CJEA, and successfully complete Anger Management course. On a charge of driving while his operating privileges were suspended was fined $200 plus $63.50 costs.Stephanie Holmes, 22, Reading, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison and since he spent four days in a rehab was immediately placed on parole, fined $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, and $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. On a charge of possession drug paraphernalia must serve 12 months probation to begin at the expiration of the DUI sentence and on a charge of careless driving was fined $25 plus $63.50 costs.
