Northern Lehigh Historical Society

The Northern Lehigh Historical Society will meet on Wednesday, March 30 at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center, and will open with a business meeting at 7 p.m., followed by a presentation by Dan Kunkle, executive director of the Nature Center, who will conduct a tour of the new visitor and education center. Plans for 2011-2012 include the construction of a pavilion beyond the east entrance of the Trout Run Covered Bridge followed by the construction of a roof over the stage at the west end of the Bridge.The NLHS is part of a coalition of local community groups, businesses and municipal governing bodies known as the Venture Group. One of the goals of the Venture Group is the construction of a restroom and pavilion/meeting room at the Slatington Trailhead. Work on the facility started in 2009.
