The 2011 Tamaqua Summer Basketball League, sponsored by the Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission (ESRC), will tip-off its season on Wednesday, June 8, at the North and Middle Ward Playground in Tamaqua.

This year's league consists of 10 teams and over 100 players, many of whom have excelled locally on the scholastic and collegiate hardwood.There will be three games on opening night beginning at 6:00 p.m. Starting on Monday, June 13, the ESRC will move to a four-game schedule, which begin at 5:30 p.m.All games will be played on Monday and Wednesday evenings during the months of June and July and will be held at the North and Middle Ward Playground and the East End Playground in Tamaqua. In the event of inclement weather, the games will be moved indoors to the Tamaqua Salvation Army Community Center gymnasium.The League playoffs will be held during the last week of July, with the Championship Game set for Friday, July 29. The winner of the ESRC Summer Basketball League will receive an automatic bid into the Catasauqua Tournament of Championships, which begins the following week.R.R.
