LVHN announces Tannersville campus plan

The Lehigh Valley Health Network Board of Trustees has approved the timeline and services for the new Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono West campus.

LVHN colleagues were informed today of the Board’s action, which reaffirms the commitment LVHN made when it merged with the former Pocono Health System  last January to build a new hospital campus along Route 715 in Tannersville.

“LVHN and LVH–Pocono leadership have assessed the community’s needs and identified the appropriate services for that campus,” said Brian Nester, DO, MBA, FACOEP, LVHN’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “LVH–Pocono’s history of caring for the community has always focused on bringing care closer to home. The LVH–Pocono West hospital campus will continue that focus by providing care to our patients that live in the western portion of Monroe County.”

Nester said the new hospital will give people in the western region of Monroe County access to the quality health care services they need most. The state-of-the-art facility and campus will include:

Nester said groundbreaking is planned for spring 2018, and the new campus is expected to open by summer of 2020.

Nester said while plans progress for the new hospital campus, LVH–Pocono continues to grow to fulfill the community’s needs. That growth has involved recruiting more primary care and specialty providers to Monroe County, and by providing more ExpressCare locations, an inpatient rehabilitation facility and access to the expertise from the LVHN Heart Institute, LVHN Cancer Institute and LVHN Institute for Special Surgery. To enhance convenience and a seamless experience with LVHN, the health network recently launched an integrated Epic electronic medical record for ambulatory services.
