An aerial view of Mauch Chunk Lake shows fall splendor. According to the Pocono Mountain Visitors’ Bureau, the projected date for peak color is Sunday. Black birch continues to be the most common color as almost all of them have changed to bright yellow. More red maple have joined the scene with many different colors from red, orange and yellow. Joining more frequently this week would be Hickory with a bright gold. Sassafras has joined in with some yellow and orange along with the orange of Black Gum. In the understory look for Witch Hazel with yellow foliage along with their yellow flower (the latest flower of the year). BOB FORD/TIMES NEWS
