Carbon County court – DUI

Four people entered guilty pleas to driving under the influence charges last Friday in Carbon County court.

Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted the pleas from the following:

Albert Swetavage

, 28, of McAdoo, was arrested on July 3 by Weatherly police along Plane Street. A test revealed a 0.15 BAC.

A first offense, he was placed on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300, render 25 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation and follow any recommendation of his drug and alcohol evaluation.

Alicia Koons

, 30, of Bowmanstown, was arrested on Feb. 28 by Nesquehoning police at Mermon Avenue and East Catawissa Street. A test revealed a 0.24 BAC.

Sentencing was deferred so she can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Jacob Leonard Lazar

, 27, of Weatherly, was arrested on Nov. 8, 2017, along Lehigh Gorge Drive in Lehigh Township, by state police at Hazleton. A test revealed a 0.25 BAC.

Sentencing was deferred so Lazar can apply for placement in the Intermediate Punishment Program - house arrest.

Samantha J. Nedley

, 35, of Nesquehoning, was arrested on Feb. 26 along Ridge Street by Lansford police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Sentencing was deferred so she can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

ARD placement

Anitra M. Sutton

, 39, of Lansford, was placed in the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Friday for a year on a DUI charge. She was arrested on June 2 by Lansford police along Patterson Street. A test revealed a 0.10 BAC.

She was assessed $500 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision while in the program, follow any recommendation of her drug and alcohol evaluation, and her license was suspended for 30 days.
