A Lehighton man was sentenced on Friday to a state prison term after previously pleading guilt in seven pending criminal cases.

ZachiryDerre Kerschner, 23, appeared before Carbon County Judge Steven R. Serfass for a resentencing in the cases. In February 2016 he was placed in the state intermediate punishment program for two years by Serfass. However, Kerschner was revoked from the program for violating the conditions and was brought back to Carbon for the resentencing.Serfass sentenced Kerschner to a total of 15 months to 7 years in a state correctional institution on two counts each of driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal trespass and theft; and one count each of criminal mischief and receiving stolen property.He was also ordered to pay total restitution of $1,465.65. On the DUI counts his total fines were $4,000 and 36 months license suspensions. He was ordered to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendations for treatment, supply a DNA sample and pay court costs of about $1,000.Kerschner was given credit for a total of 506 days spent in prison on the charges. Although the credit exceeds the minimum sentence, he remains in custody at the state prison in Chester. The state board of probation and parole will decide when he is released.He was charged by Mahoning Township and state police at Lehighton for incidents dating back to 2013 and into 2015. He was charged with entering homes in the township, stealing drugs and removing items and then selling them to feed a drug habit.Several of the counts he pleaded to were felonies.
