Nesquehoning plans ‘Let’s Glow Crazy’ party Saturday night
Nesquehoning wants to continue the success of recent fall-themed events by ending the month with a new themed Halloween party.
On Wednesday, borough councilwoman Suzanne Smith announced that the borough recreation commission and events committee will deck out the Nesquehoning Recreation Center on Saturday for a glow party.
“After coming off a very successful Fall Fest up in New Columbus, and a very successful trunk-or-treat at the Nesquehoning Fire Company, we decided to keep the momentum going,” Smith said as she grinned like the Cheshire cat. “On trick-or-treat night at the Nesquehoning Recreation Center, we will be hosting a ‘Let’s Glow Crazy’ party that is open to all kids and adults in Nesquehoning.”
Smith said the party is to complement the Halloween evening and provide an alternative to the standard trick-or-treat candy.
“We’re giving them more of an experience,” she said, adding that she hopes this becomes an annual tradition.
There will be pizza, soft pretzels and drinks, as well as candy and glowing activities from 6 to 8 p.m., the same time as trick-or-treating.
“We hope to see everybody there,” Smith said.
In addition to Halloween, Nesquehoning is also looking toward Christmas, with Smith announcing the borough has been able to purchase 13 new Christmas poinsettia lights that will hang from utility poles alongside the borough’s snowflakes. There will also be a new rooftop decoration on the gazebo in the New Columbus park, just in time for the annual Christmas on The Hill event planned for Dec. 5.
“(This) just keeps with the momentum of building off of things and growing it through the years,” Smith said. “Having these events for our town to take part in, that’s what it’s really all about. It’s making our town what we already know it is.”
