Police: Schuylkill man punched woman

A Schuylkill County man was jailed late last week on a charge of simple assault following a domestic incident.

State police at Frackville said the incident occurred on June 15 about 2:36 p.m. at 288 Wood St., in Cumbola, Blythe Township. Troopers said Keeray Thomas, 22, and a 21-year-old woman, engaged in a verbal argument inside their residence over going on vacation to the beach and also over a prior altercation in which Thomas was arrested by Pottsville police for assaulting the victim. The argument turned physical when Thomas pushed the victim to the floor and punched her in the left side of the face. Thomas then left the residence and smashed the front windshield of the victim's mother's car, which was parked outside.Thomas was taken into custody and arraigned by on-call District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua. He was committed to the county prison after failing to post bail, troopers said.
