McAdoo police released information on two recent cases.
Thomas Mundie Jr., 34, of Hazleton, andCassandra Canaan, 29, of McAdoo, were each charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property in connection with a class ring.Officers were contacted by the ring's owner, who said she suspected Canaan had taken her 1977 Marian High School class ring and had it pawned in West Hazleton. The pawnshop was contacted and the ring was recovered.Canaan and Mundie were together when Mundie pawned the ring.Michael Belson, 39, of McAdoo, was charged with obstruction of justice after a state constable tried to execute a warrant on June 1.The constable went to Belson's home, where a man told him Belson wasn't there and that he should look for a black man, employed at a local pizza shop. The constable then went to the police station to see if anyone was familiar with Belson. He learned the man who opened the door was actually Belson, who had misdirected him.The constable and officers went back to the home and took Belson into custody on the warrant.He was also charged with making a false report and providing false identification to police.
