Pocono Mtn. Regional Police Foundation donation drive underway
Pocono Mountain Regional Police Foundation’s 2026 donation drive, which began Oct. 1 and runs through Dec. 31, will see proceeds go to the dogs.
Fully funding Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department K-9 Unit is of great importance now more than ever. As these hardworking furry professionals prepare for retirement, the department looks to the public to help fund the next generation of K-9s as well as future K-9 handlers.
“Our K-9 officers continue to work hard for our community and our department,” said Pocono Mountain Regional Police Chief Chris Wagner. “We look forward to their presence every day.
“The department also recognizes that planning and preparation are critical to emergency service success and we apply this approach to our K-9 program. So, while we look forward to our K-9 officers continuing their careers, we also look to be operationally and financially positioned when the time comes for a well-deserved retirement.
“Our K-9 program has always generated a great amount of interest, enthusiasm and support from the community. The support has come in many forms including overwhelming financial support.
“This financial support has allowed the K-9 officers and their handlers to be fully funded by the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Foundation. As we look to the future, we also look to partner with our community and the foundation to secure the future K-9’s of the PMRPD ”
Wagner added that as a law enforcement professional, he knows the importance of transparency and legitimacy, assuring residents the mailings are to support the department through the sanctioned foundation asking for friends and neighbors to consider participating as contributions great and small are appreciated.
The three-month fundraising campaign launched public awareness Oct. 1 with a direct mailing of letters throughout the community to area residences, along with ongoing web communications featuring the ability to donate online at PMRPF.com/how-to-donate.
The mission of the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Foundation is to provide resources for essential equipment and programs not funded by the police commission and to promote the safety and well-being of the community it serves.
